Tweed Ride - Fall 2010 Photos -- Enjoy!

Tweed Ride! Oh, My....

Philadelphia Tweed Ride

A good number of Tweed Rides occurred during October and November -- here are photos from some of those rides. They come from quite a range of places and as viewed through the eyes of some very fine photographers. Who says you can't ride a bicycle and wield a camera too!
Enjoy!

Further thoughts on this particular offering of Tweed Ride photos-- I'm just so smitten with everyone's talents. Really Philadelphia has more than it's fair share represented here, just check out their group flickr pool of no less than 10 contributors to that one ride alone.

Also much heartfelt thanks to everyone who so quickly and enthusiastically offered up their photos!

And as a final thought-- you dear reader, really owe it to your self to go visit each of the links to see many, many more fine photos from that particular photographer and/or from that Ride.

There are more photos of more rides I want to share with you. Hmmh, I'm still working on catching up. More photos to come next week (or so) that is when I return from some travels I'm off on.

Essence of Fall

Admittedly my love of capes continues on into this year- though with more of an Indian motif or serape feel.

I included the closeup (of my most current favorite shoes) - Frankly, hopefully you won't let any serape fringe get caught in your bicycle spokes! I always make sure to wrap it up around me when I bicycle...but for these photos I took liberty and let my serape cape drape down.

All most everything has been thrifted (including my serape, bicycle market basket, white top, military jacket, black strawberry necklace) the exceptions being the clogs and cuffed jeggings. On the front of my bicycle is my DIY (thrifted) wine style crate - I did this instead of using the traditional wicker basket.

Here's to Enjoying your own Fall Essence!

At the Train Depot - Suitcase DIY for my Bicycle

train

Don't you love it when the perfect vintage travel suitcase fits just right on your bicycle's back rack! Here's a bicycle DIY if you can find one of these. It's a 60's Samsonite. It can safely transport camera and tripod when I need it to - besides serving as a really cute train suitcase.
Oh, that last photo is how I transport my shoes when I deem them cherry enough and I want to keep them nicely pristine, meaning I wear flats for the ride.

Speaking of trains I'm off on a train journey and will be gone a week. Expect the next post after I return!

Vintage Bicycles - L' Eroica & Tuscany

l'eroica

l'eroica

Vintage bicycles traverse Tuscany's gravel roads! Yes, it's the 14th year for L'Eroica.

Racing to win is not entirely the objective. Le Dolce Vita - memorable times, beautiful scenery, savory & rustic food, wine stops - that's more like it. Well, that's the feeling I get looking at these photos since I have never been in attendance personally that is.

What joggled me was Charlotte's charming post which served to remind me of this year's L'Eroica. In her post you'll find some photos of vintage Italian bicycles taken while on her Italia vacation. Wonderful.

Additionally I was delighted to discover these "imagine yourself there" photos from e r t z u i ° film serving up the vibe of this year's L' Eroica. I also love the video from Le Coq Sport as well.

Autumn Bicycle & Tweed Inspiration

ridingpretty"

Once in awhile perfection comes along and to my mind this is it. I think you will find plenty of wonderful new inspiration (besides this inspiration) for your next Tweed Ride!

Those bicycles! Yes, this is such charming little video by Charlie Winston /featuring Audrey Tauto. It is so chocked full with vintage style. Ah, so many things to dream of finding;

- Fitted trousers & boxy jacket that Andrey is wearing, her shoes worn with those socks..
- The jaunty Tweedy vest Charlie is wearing, his trousers..
- The bicycle randonneur details--the panniers, front porteur style bag, picnic blankets, canteen..

I invite you to really study and have a look at all of it. Beautiful.

Paris City Bike Chic - Catherine Baba via Mr. Newton

city

Paris Fashion Week! Here's Catherine Baba on her bicycle, caught this time by photo fashion blogger Mr. Newton. Catherine is a stylist (as in think 'Rachel Zoe type'- of fashion stylist) and a stylist with her own cult like following. She rides (very smartly) on her bicycle to all the Paris Shows - as seen here and here.

I must say I love her mustard color coat! I have a vintage velveteen coat so very much like this one Catherine is wearing
(well, the cut and color anyway) - note to myself: I must dig this coat out of storage locker.

Elderberries in a basket. I collect these every year and make a jam with them. Deep in winter I take a jar from the shelf and remember the warm Indian Summer days of September.
Happy October 1st! We're having an especially gorgeous Indian Summer here in Northern California.
