Vintage Bicycle Girl - Spring Fashion on the Wharf

There was a break in the April rains, a nice bright sunny sky opening up.... and then along comes Debbie. She looks so adorably vintage perfect!

She says she often rides around on her lunch break just to get out for some fresh air. Did she work in one of the fine vintage clothing shops around town? Oh, not so...she'd just left her (County Building) offices.

I was so drawn to her beautiful brooks saddle. She said it had been a special present given her. We talked about Raleigh bicycles as I admired hers. I loved her shoes too, ReMix she said. Oh then her pin ...

After the SF Green Festival we beelined immediately over to the Underground Street Food + House Kombucha location to party and feast on some of the yummiest street food from some of the best of the SF Underground Street Food vendors.

Since I'm way down in Santa Cruz (and I live car lite) I kept missing all the other SF Underground Food Markets. There have been three so far - the last one had 47 vendors and over 1,200 people attending. So I was thrilled to finally get to go to this mini and intimate version. It specifically featured SF street vendor's foods as opposed to the much larger and insanely popular foraged foods vendors and market.

Visit SF Underground Street Food - keep up with new events
Visit SF Underground Food Market via SF Forage - new market on April 16th - sign up for newsletter to get location/notification of other upcoming events.

If you've been reading this blog for long you'll know I love to go forage and have done so since my Grandfather use take me with him as a child. I've blogged a bit about it here. I love all things DIY too. Borderline, barely legal, hhmm now this intrigues me - I love the underground way things work. You get around in the underground. Underground in Private Paris.

Eating at the recent SF Street Food Vendor was so delish.
We had....

*LaotionVietnamese Cuisine, a most delicate flavored dish! - from A Humble Plate

*ever so Fine! Lavendar Chocolate - from EarthAlchemy Raw Chocolate

*moist cookies treats - from Mad4Madeleines

*Indian Tacos - sorry didn't catch their vendor name - the BF was crazy about their fare

*Kombucha shot - from
House Kombucha - with so many flavors to choose from!!

*my favorite - RawDaddy's - I had the portobello mushroom and polenta with creamy cashew sauce in the signature flax seed cone. Perfection.

My SF Day - Green Festival - Bamboo Bicycle - StalkBicycles

(StalkBicycles/photo by RidingPretty)

Yeah! A Day in SF and it's been awhile...Attended the SF Green Festival where I spied this fetching bamboo bicycle by StalkBicycles. SO green in every imaginable way.

Very tempting it is....My BF hasn't bought a new bicycle in ages (nor have I for that matter, being strictly a vintage kind of girl in all my bicycle choices) but I digress. So my BF is seriously considering getting this frame and doing his own build out with some of his really old esoteric components he's been saving forever. We'll see. StalkBicycles are hand built and made right here in Santa Cruz, how convenient. Ample oppurtunity to go by and visit the shop and watch the build process - being in the same town and all.

Hmmm...I wonder if they could do a mixte frame, guess I'll have to ask. I suppose the geometry of the diamond frame is the best use of bamboo and a mixte would be out of the question. Still...

Matthew Modine, Bicycle, Fashion Charity Show and Other Fine Tweed Gents

Matthew Modine carried a bicycle up the runway, (only appropriate) - His charity is Bicycle For A Day. The event was the recent "Dressed to Kilt" Charity Fashion Show.

Matthew looks awfully much like a Tweed Ride Tweeder to me, then again the charity event was part of the New York Tartan Week. Tartan a close cousin to Tweed.

Speaking of Dapper Gents this is as good a time as any to share this with you...

The Gents you see above are two of the organizers for the recent Kansas City Tweed Ride.
More on the Kansas City Tweed Ride when I do my April Tweed Rides - a recap of all of the April Tweed Rides....coming soon, as in when the month of April is over. April looks to be another fine month for Tweed Rides. If you haven't already done so please do check The Tweed Report for upcoming Tweed Rides. Maybe there is one coming to your town?

The best Mixte I've seen in some time...There is just so much to like- the paint colors, the honey colored brooks saddle and DIY pannier side basket, the dinosaur totem in same shades of green, the handle bars. Ok, you get the picture.

DIY: Shoes Stay-on While Bicycling

DIY - How to keep your shoes/heels from falling off (in traffic-yikes!) while riding your bicycle...

heels and bikes photo by ridingpretty

I use to have this problem - certain shoes would fall off, worst of all in traffic!
I know others have had this problem too.

It's even happened to me during this photo shoot whilst jumping on my bicycle (last photo). There is a solution that came to me one day! One that I've been using for quite some time now - though not in the prior mentioned photo shoot. Anyway I decided to share it now in this post....

Scrunchies to the rescue! My scrunchie collection.

While on the topic of scrunchies, Susie @ Style Bubble wears scrunchies with her heels too!! She does it to pretty up her shoes, though not necessarily having anything to do with keeping her shoes from falling off while riding a bicycle.

♥♥♥Susie is one of my very favorite fashion bloggers!
And she does ride a bicycle .....
