Ikebana Flowers - Quirky Bicycle Basket

Girls with their flowers on their bicycle basket! Spring must be around the corner...

I couldn't help but love this artistic floral arrangement attached to the bicycle basket with it's frayed yellow ribbon. I love the three flowers (bright orange, spikey purple and pale blossom pink) mixed in a Japanese inkebana sort of way. I love when old vintage bicycles are left to patina and rust in the most gorgeous colors, textures and quirky nuances.

It's just that my aesthetics are not always delighted by what is new and shiny. I heart this other old patina bicycle with it's multi colors like a 'Jacob's many colored coat'.

Did you ever get something brand new and then spend hours de-stressing it and making it look like you had it forever? Now this ritual didn't lend itself to EVERYTHING I ever got that was new, just these certain things...
I still laugh - how my little de-stressing ritual use to drive my parents crazy...and now to a certain extent it does the same thing - drives my boyfriend crazy!

I am so happy to offer a DIY again here at RidingPretty. I know it's been an awfully long time since I've done any DIY postings....

The magazine Landleven offers this DIY crochet skirt guard!
Thanks to the lovely blog Dutch Blue I was able to make this wonderful discovery. I know several out there have been desperately in search of any DIY's for skirt guards, so here you go. Now to get busy and just crochet away!

More Fun

More Fun just like before.

This jacket is another one of my favorite jackets, it's Adrienne Vittadini, not sure if it's vintage but given the generous padding in the shoulders I'm betting that it is. It's Canadian Mountie Red with a vibrant purple. I'm also wearing my equestrian inspired bicycle helmet which you can see in more detail here.

Having Fun

Lately I've been playing, experimenting and having fun with a camera in this impromptu photo studio I set up...There's been a lot of rain lately, so why not. I may actually figure out how to improve my photography skills, plus I get to play stylist with some of my favorite vintage clothes. Not to mention joining in on all the fun of posting bicycle + fashion style shots - just like some other stylish bicycle mavens have been doing forever!

Oh, this jacket is a royal purple color which didn't exactly come across. It's a vintage I.Magnin label (40's I am guessing) with large brass buttons. It's got the Military Look, the Band Jacket, or Sgt. Pepper thing going on and I simply love it.

Yes, this video is keeping me in the same wistful spring time mood that Bridget Bardot's bicycle ride in countryside put me in earlier today...except maybe for the whimsical and strange 'Alice in Wonderland-ish' tea party in the Dollhouse. Oh, go ahead... I must admit I'm so looking forward to Alice Wonderland and in 3D no less!
